Event to Recognize #IowansUnite Video Contest Winner

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) and the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) today announced that the City of Knoxville recently won a custom mural by Iowa artist Ben Schuh by winning the #IowansUnite video contest, an initiative that highlighted communities’ support for small businesses.

The new mural and Knoxville small businesses will be celebrated at a public event on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, from 5 - 7 p.m. on the Knoxville downtown square and surrounding area. The public is encouraged to attend to visit with the muralist and enjoy Knoxville’s shopping and food and drink options.”

“Small businesses are an essential piece of Iowa’s vibrant economy, said IEDA and IFA Executive Director Debi Durham. “Not only do small businesses make up more than 99% of all Iowa businesses and employ nearly 50% of our workforce, they are also at the heart of hometowns throughout our state. I congratulate the City of Knoxville for successfully highlighting their hometown pride in their businesses and winning a new mural for their downtown district.”

“We are proud to support our small businesses and showcase our community,” said Brian Hatch Knoxville Mayor. “This new mural does a great job of telling our town’s story and is a wonderful addition to our downtown area.”
