Activities
Volunteering in my community by offering free electrical services and labor to help out with different local events and churches. Whether it was fixing electrical issues or helping set things up. I've always enjoyed using my skills to give back. On top of that, I've had a great time coaching little kids' soccer, teaching them the basics, and encouraging teamwork and fun.
Working in Marion County
Being able to serve and support the community while working alongside some truly great people. There's a strong sense of connection, and it's rewarding to know that the work we do at Gritters Electrics directly impacts our community. The people in Marion County are hardworking, supportive, and always willing to lend a hand, which makes it an amazing place to work. Gritters Electric has been a part of this community for over 50 years and I am thankful to have worked in this community and have led the company for the last six years.
Living in Marion County
The people and being able to raise our family. There's a real sense of belonging here, where neighbors support each other and friendships are easily made. We have two really great school systems and Pella is a great place to live and raise a family.
Favorite Place to Relax
You'll most likely find me at a sports field cheering on our three kids, out in the woods hunting or checking deer cameras, or socializing with close friends and family.
Career Opportunities
At Gritters Electric, we've helped students right out of school through programs like CAP (Career Academy of Pella), Pella Christian's Winterim Internship, or individuals who are simply interested in electrical work with little to no experience. We've built them up, put them through trade school, and guided them through four years of electrical school to earn their journeyman license. We're committed to investing in the next generation of electricians and providing opportunities for young professionals to build successful careers in the trades.
Community Favorites
Tulip Time is definitely a highlight - it brings everyone together to celebrate Pella's Dutch heritage with parades, delicious food, and beautiful tulip displays. Lake Red Rock is a great spot for hiking, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Balloon fest has been a great opportunity to sponsor and enjoy watching the balloons up in the air.
Career Advice to Teens
Be prepared to try new things, put in the hard work, and invest your sweat equity into what you want to achieve. It won't always be easy, but if you stay dedicated and keep pushing forward, you'll reach your goals. Don't be afraid to learn as you go - the experience you gain will be invaluable. Keep an open mind and stay committed, and you'll find success in the electrical field. Find a mentor and find someone who will help guide you along the way. Always listen and ask questions.

What is your wish for the Red Rock Area?
Build and support the trade fields, providing opportunities for students to explore and find their path. It's essential to help guide young people toward valuable careers in the trades, as these fields offer long-term success stability. By investing in trade education and resources, we can create a strong workforce and set up the next generation for success.
What is your biggest passion, and why?
Helping others grow and succeed, whether that's in my personal life or my professional journey. I find fulfillment in mentoring, teaching, and being part of a team that works toward a common goal. Whether it's supporting employees to become the best they can be or helping them develop in their careers, I'm driven by making a positive impact and seeing others thrive. It can be tough when team members move on to new opportunities, but knowing I've played a role in their growth and career success is incredibly rewarding. I'm especially proud to see electricians develop in their careers and excel in their trade.
