Working in Marion County
When I started working at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics 15 years ago, I never imagined I’d stay as long as I have. But now I can’t imagine working anywhere else. Through the years I’ve discovered how much I enjoy working in a smaller workplace where you know everyone and you’re not just treated as a number. You have a voice and you actually matter. I’ve fostered a deep connection with my fellow co-workers. Many of us not only enjoy working with one another day-to-day, but also socialize outside of the workplace. We are like family. There is also something to be said about working and living in the same community. By doing both, you develop a bond with community members through volunteerism and community, school, and church events.

Living in Marion County
Like many Iowans, I grew up in small town Iowa where I knew my neighbors and our community rallied around one another in times of trial and triumph. The small town values that I was taught growing up guide me every day through my work ethic and volunteerism. After graduating from college, I knew that I wanted to find a community like I grew up in where I could live, work, and establish my home. I found that in Knoxville. I feel right at home here where neighbors and friends greet each other on the street and aren’t afraid to pitch in and help one another in times of need. We have the comforts of small town living yet close enough to experience larger city life. Our county has the beauty, recreation, and community pride that makes me proud to call this my home.
